Bowing in Prayer

Prayer and Contemplation are the center of the Brothers’ lives. At 5am the day begins with Personal Prayer. Communal Meditation is at 6:15am and mass begins at 7am. At 3pm is communal Midday Prayer, followed by Eucharistic Adoration (the ceremonial adoring of the bread and wine once it has been transfigured into the body and blood of Christ), and Evening Prayer at 5:30.

Every Catholic chapel has an image of the Cross, usually with Christ’s corpse, as the center of ritual. Because the principal idea of venerating the image of the crucifixion is to imagine one’s self enduring Christ’s suffering, the Brothers have chosen not to have an image of Christ’s dead body; instead, a universal paper heart sits in their cross.
