more of Colorado on the way

In between this fall’s weddings and portraits I am still sorting through all of my photos from my trip to Colorado last month. Here’s a few random shots, much is more on the way.
This snake crossed my path in Mesa Verda…

The week’s hosts were newlyweds Paul and Sara.

website design for the Little Brothers

I’ve been working with a great developer for months to create a new comprehensive website for the Little Brothers of Saint Francis. It’s now complete including a community profile section where you can “meet” each brother, and a multimedia page with photos, videos, and audio clips! Check it out!

Eugene Richards workshop: just a little change in the frame

I spent this weekend with renown documentary photographer Eugene Richards in an intimate group of photographers. Primarily we looked at and discussed photographic projects and worked through puzzles each of us are facing. I talked about my still-image image film (Ridiculous & Sublime: Life in an Inner-City Franciscan Monastery) and my current exploration of conflict and story structure. It was enlightening, challenging, and comforting to receive so much feedback from others who are in various stages of the creative process—and have the conversation lead by one of the best in the field.
We did do a little shooting: one “framing” exercise in which we photographed someone many times with varied framing but without changing our distance to subject. Here’s a few that I shot with my workshop partner and out & about in Woodstock, NY.
A new friend/fellow photographer posted a review of the workshop on his photography blog (www.terrymoorephotography.com). I agree whole heartedly with Terry’s evaluation of Gene’s humility, honesty, and openess to each person and way of working. Terry is beginning a very ambitious documentary project himself, about shifting coal and natural gas economies in Pennsylvania.

OK, so I moved for this shot but I couldn’t resist snapping a close-up of this big drooly mug!
durango farm day

While I was in Durango last month I spent a day weeding and snapping some photos on Cottonwood Creek Farm which Clementine is working for. So wonderful to be outside all day with everything growing and almost no bugs (thank you dry Colorado air!)!

Sprouts in the greenhouse.

monks playing basketball

I’m always working on my film about the Little Brothers of Saint Francis in Mission Hill, Ridiculous & Sublime: Life in an Inner-City Franciscan Monastery. This weekend I developed negatives of them playing basketball with a couple kids after a Sunday mass.
They really do have a disadvantage with those denim habits.

my best friend’s wedding

A couple weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend the wedding of my amazing friend Sara. I was not “at work” though I snagged a few photos from where I sat. It was a really unique wedding, out west in Durango, Colorado. Outdoors, intimate, spiritual, beautiful….

Jayd Gardina from New York City was the official photographer hard at work! (http://www.jaydgardinaphotography.com)

Friends!

So cute, let’s see it again.

afternoon at the arboretum

Today, a perfect weather day, I wandered the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain.

The Boston skyline. I like it best like this—with trees between us.

New friends Mary and Dan. They were just chillin’ and chill enough to let me snap away behind them.

I thought I was going to get the cutest picture of this kid barreling down the hill toward me with his parents behind—and I was able to get an impromptu OK from them—but he changed his mind at the last second. Funny how 2-years-olds do that.

Hello everyone. I am very excited to be blogging within my website.
If this is your first time seeing my work you may be interested in visiting telephotomo.blogspot.com where I blogged for over a year and a half. Otherwise join the feed and stay in the loop!
I didn’t really shoot today, though I happened to snap this one of my kitty.
